What is a browser

A browser is the frontend that shows you this page. Like in car industry we have several brands like Netscape, Microsoft etc. and a bunch of different Models like Ford T, Mercedes Benz etc...

Which Browsers work

Like a real traffic in the word, which is build to be driven by several cars, we try to make you as much browsers available as possible. Generally we test:

  • Internet Explorer 6.0
  • FireFox
  • Netscape 6.0/6.1
  • Opera 5.x
This site should work also perfect with:
  • Internet Explorer Version > 3.0. (If you actually use 5.0/5.5 think about a security update or switch to 6.0)
  • Netscape 4.x (like 4.6, 4.7x etc..)
  • Nokia 6600 Mobile

One problem is, you get a very different printout with all of them. I prefer Netscape 6.1 for realistic printouts. Opera doesn't uses the japanese fonts. To activate the japanese fonts (we momentarily just use for testing) need to be installed in Windows.

You are not limited to any Windows (like 98, me, 2000, XP), you might use Mac or Unix, Linux. But this is at the moment a rare plattform. We are happy for any response on that.

What can happen on the site?

If you get any problems or have any technical questions, just tell me: Jan A. Staecker

Best view

First try to use a screen resulution of 1024x768 or better (higher values).

At the moment nearly every monitor or TFT uses this sizes. About 95% of all internet users have this or a higher resolution. But don't worry lower resolutions will work too.

Second try to get the best fitting colors. We are working on a help page for you. Per default every output device shows you slightly different brightness and colors.

We have a good internet connection which allows dozens of ISDN connections at the same time. But you might use a modem or any other slow connection. Be aware, that showing you the 1:1 original size resolution for a print will least some time (especially tryptichs).

Cookies, JavaScript, ActiveX, VBScript and that stuff

At the moment Cookies are safe. So we use them, but only nonpermanent ones.
Those stored on the PC for later use can be disabled (this is not available in all browsers.)

You may disable Javascript on our pages and they will still work. But you will be asked several times - we are working on that. There are very rare security proplems on Javascript. If you use the newest security updates for your browsers there should be no risk.

ActiveX and VBScript should be disabled. This is a fine technology, but to powerful on your local computer. You can hardly bann the wizards if on your machine.

Flash or other stuff is not needed on this site.
